Sound Design

Creative sound design can make the difference between an impressive visual effect, and a completely realistic viewing experience. The team at DSV has years of experience in sound effects recording, editing and creative processing, and has an extensive library of exclusive recordings made with the highest quality microphones. (Like the Neumann RSM191 and KMR81i, Sennheiser MKH 60, 30, 416, and 816). This ensures that your sound track will be more original than what can be achieved with off the shelf CD libraries.

Sound designers with this kind of experience and versatile libraries are in demand. This is why we are being asked to create sound tracks and elements for films, television, documentaries, corporates, computer games, and theme parks.

 

Sound Editing

All of the Pro Tools systems in the facility are streamlined for editing. Each one is fitted with non-linear digital video, making the editing process extremely fast. All the systems use the same digital video format, so that once the video has been received, it can quickly be distributed to all of the editing workstations.

Loading of production sound via OMF directly from Avid (or compatible) editing systems, or via an EDL and the original source tapes is done directly to the digital audio workstations. The entire process from load to edit to mix is kept entirely in the digital domain, ensuring that the entire process is free from generation loss of audio quality.

The internal network between all of the workstations means that audio can be exchanged between the editors very quickly, and directly to each workstation's online storage.

Regardless of how much music editing, dialogue editing, sound effects editing, foley editing, or adr editing is required, we have the suites that can get the work done.

Foley

The foley stage is acoustically dead and quiet, so that the acoustic character can be added later in the foley premix. The foley pits are built into the cement foundations of the studio, which gives our foley a very solid realistic sound.

We also use the same high quality microphones used by location sound mixers. An extensive range of surfaces and props in the room allow our experienced foley artist to create entirely realistic sound tracks.

With over fifteen years experience in film and TV foley, our in house foley artist is one of the quickest and best in the business.
